Korean Sweet Potato

It’s hard to improve on a sweet potato.

Bake it long enough and it’s already perfect — soft, caramelized, naturally sweet.

But I eat these all the time, so I had to test this viral method for myself.

Here’s the process ⤵️

• Wash the sweet potato well

• Score it across the center (easy peel later)

• Leave the ends on — best part, chewy + caramelized

• Bake at 375 for 20 min

• Ice bath for 2 min

• Back in the oven for 25 min

• Squeeze test — mine needed +10 min at 400

• Rest 8 min (careful… molten hot)

• Skin slides right off

I left one plain.

The other got Gruyère and went back in for ~5

Honest take:

Is it worth all the extra steps?

Not really. I usually toss a sweet potato in the oven and forget about it and it comes out perfect every time.

BUT if you want an easy peel, this actually works.

And yeah… it’s still pretty darn good.
