Having a partner who isn't willing to do inner work to improve the relationship can be very detrimental to the other partner.

Years with someone who is disregulated and emotionally immature will eventually begin to wear on your emotional state and nervous system. Over time self-neglect, confusion, and even physical symptoms will grow from the dissonance. So there has to eventually be boundaries created to protect yourself. That often looks like leaving or setting clearer expectations for the relationship.

We wrote The Inner Work of Relationships book to guide two people who are willing to heal together, but it's also a tool for someone who is asking "what if my partner doesn't want to heal?" or even "what if I want something different?". Our book and content is a tool to help you recognize the unhealthy patterns in yourself and your relationship so that you can make empowered choices in your life moving forward.

You need to learn what is actually healthy in order to see the blind spots in your life and finally make a change. Self love through inner work often looks like clearer boundaries, hard choices, and accountability for how you protect your inner child. Because once you see the patterns, people, and perspectives that are harming you - you are forced to make a choice of self love.
