This is the Ouai Super Dry Shampoo in Cape Town. This might be one of my new favorite dry shampoos!! I LOVE the Cape Town scent!! It is VERY strong, so if you’re looking for something lightly scented you should pass on this one. It doesn’t weigh my hair down at all! It’s super easy to blend into my hair. It does come out white but if you brush it or shake it into your hair the white disappears. I use it after washing my hair on my scalp/roots only and I can go at least 4 days without washing my hair again - it keeps the grease away so well! This is the first product I’ve ever tried from Ouai, and I’m very impressed! This was gifted to me, but the full size is $30! But this bottle lasted me a long time, and it smells so good. I would definitely splurge on this!

First off, the application is key to mastering this product. Yes, it does initially come out white, but don't let that deter you! My routine involves spraying it directly onto my roots and scalp, focusing on the areas that tend to get oily fastest. I then let it sit for about a minute or two – this crucial step allows the powder to really absorb the excess oils. After that, I gently massage it in with my fingertips, which helps distribute the product and further activate its oil-absorbing properties. Finally, a quick brush through my hair completely eliminates any white cast, leaving my hair looking and feeling genuinely clean, not powdery or dull. This technique is what truly maximizes its effectiveness and ensures a seamless finish.
The longevity of this 4.5 oz bottle is genuinely impressive and a huge selling point for me. I mentioned being able to go 4+ days without washing, and that’s no exaggeration! I find it most effective when applied as a preventative measure – right after washing my hair (once it’s fully dry, of course). This helps to preemptively control oil production. Then, on day two or three, if I notice any oiliness starting to peek through, a quick targeted spritz in the morning revives my hair instantly. Unlike some dry shampoos that just mask odor or add texture, this one truly absorbs oil, making it a lifesaver for extending blowouts and reducing overall hair washing frequency.
And that Cape Town scent? Oh my goodness. It's truly unique – a beautiful blend that’s fresh, sophisticated, and slightly floral. I totally get that the strength might be a lot for some, so if you’re sensitive to fragrances, you might want to try a travel size first. But for me, it's a major highlight! It makes my hair smell freshly washed and clean, even on day four, and I often get compliments on it. It’s one of those luxurious scents that adds to the whole experience.
Considering the $30 price tag for the full size, I know it might seem like a splurge. However, because this Ouai dry shampoo is so incredibly effective and concentrated, I find that I don't need to use a ton of product with each application. This means one can lasts me surprisingly long. When you weigh that against the time saved from fewer washes, the healthier scalp and hair from reduced washing, and the confidence boost of fresh-looking hair, it honestly feels like a smart investment. For anyone battling oily roots or simply wanting to extend the life of their styled hair, this Ouai Super Dry Shampoo is an absolute game-changer. I seriously can't recommend it enough to give your hair that refreshed look!
