This is the Beauty of Joseon Day Dew Sunscreen. I finished a sample of this, so I got probably 4-5ish uses out of it. This is a very thick, milky, moisturizing SPF. I didn’t notice a scent, but this mini packaging was very difficult to get the product out, but I did get it all out without having to cut it open. It works really well underneath makeup. It didn’t make my skin look oily throughout the day. It never broke me out! I would love to try more from this brand, and I would buy this in a full size!
... Read moreOkay, so after seeing the hype everywhere, especially on Reddit, I finally got my hands on a Beauty of Joseon Day Dew Sunscreen SPF 50 sample, and I have some thoughts to share! My main review focused on my initial experience, but I wanted to dive a bit deeper into why this sunscreen has become such a cult favorite and what to expect if you're thinking of trying it.
First off, let's talk about the texture. As mentioned, it's quite thick and milky. When you first squeeze it out, it might feel a bit heavy, but it blends surprisingly well. I've heard some people worry about a white cast with mineral sunscreens, but this one is a chemical sunscreen, and I personally experienced no white cast whatsoever, even on my slightly darker skin tone. It just melts in and leaves a dewy finish, which I actually love for that healthy glow. If you have oily skin, you might find it a tad too dewy, but for normal to dry skin types, it's a dream.
One of the biggest questions I always have about SPF is how it performs under makeup. I can happily report that this Day Dew Sunscreen SPF 50 by Beauty of Joseon truly excels here. I wore it under various foundations – liquid, cushion, and even tinted moisturizer – and it never pilled or made my makeup slide around. In fact, it seemed to create a really smooth canvas, almost like a primer. My makeup stayed put, and my skin didn't get oilier throughout the day, which is a huge win for me.
Given that I used a 10mL sample size, I got about 4-5 uses out of it, which was enough to form a solid opinion and give it a four-star rating. The packaging for the sample was a bit tricky, making it hard to squeeze out the last bits, but I managed without having to cut it open. I'm confident the full-size product would have a much more user-friendly pump or tube. A common query I’ve seen on forums is whether the full size feels different, and from what I gather, the formula remains consistent, which is great news.
Another thing to consider is the ingredients. Beauty of Joseon focuses on traditional Korean herbal ingredients, and this sunscreen is no exception. It contains rice extract and grain probiotics, which are known for their brightening and moisturizing properties. It's also fragrance-free, which is a big plus for those with sensitive skin. I'm someone who can react to certain ingredients, but this never broke me out or caused any irritation, which is why I'm so eager to try more from this brand. Compared to other popular sunscreens I’ve tried, this one really strikes a balance between effective protection and skin-loving benefits. It’s definitely on my list for a full-size repurchase!
