Common Symptoms of Thyroid Disease
I was barely a sophomore in high school the first time I heard the words ‘thyroid disease’. I had lost a significant amount of weight, to the point where my face was sunken in. I would sleep 12-15 hours every night and still wake up exhausted. Don’t even get me started on the heat. At the time I was active on sports teams that would play in the blazing Texas sun. Every practice I felt so sick from it.
This is the reality of thyroid disease. The symptoms are sporadic, and for women, they can get written off by doctor’s as hormonal changes until a TSH blood test proves otherwise.
Thyroid disease is chronic, but medications, and lifestyle changes can help to manage the symptoms and improve the quality of life for those who are dealing with it.
If you have been experiencing symptoms like these that just won’t go away, don’t be scared to ask your doctor for bloodwork to test for thyroid disease. With diagnosis and consistency, you can improve your quality of life significantly!
