Easy Oven Fried Chicken Thighs
Listen. I love my husband’s deep fried chicken. I would argue hands down that he is the best at frying anything, and I do mean anything.
However, I tried this version of oven fried chicken to lean toward a healthier entree for dinner tonight. I was inspired by someone who used this chicken fry on Facebook.
I have used an air fryer instead of using the oven with this recipe, but I wanted to use the oven this time to determine if there was a difference.
Ingredients
8 pack of boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 pack of seasoned chicken fry
Olive oil cooking spray
Slap Ya Mama seasoning (or whatever you choose)
Jalapeños (because my husband loves them with his fried chicken
I cleaned my chicken, and I lightly seasoned the pieces with Slap Ya Mama seasoning.
Next, I added water to half of the chicken fry and mixed it to form a wet mixture. Then, I added the rest of the chicken fry into another bowl for the dry mixture. I added some dried Italian herbs to the dry mixture as well.
One by one, I took the chicken thighs, dipping each one in the wet mixture and then the dry mixture. I dusted off excess dry mixture and placed them on the baking rack. I sprayed both sides of each chicken thigh with the cooking spray.
At this point, you could put the pieces in your air fryer. This time, I choose my oven.
I baked the chicken for about 1 hour and 15 minutes and flipped them half way through. Of course your chicken likely needs more time if you opt for bone-in chicken thighs.
The chicken tasted great, and I felt a little less guilty because it wasn’t deep fried. My family liked it, too. 😌
