I consistently hear that now is not the right time to attack liberals, I wholeheartedly disagree, right now is the most important to be as effective as we can against fascists and part of that is pointing out who is enabling them and how we can be better than that
From my experience, fighting against fascism requires a clear-eyed approach about all political players involved. While liberals often claim to oppose authoritarianism and extremism, their actions sometimes inadvertently enable these threats. For example, the hesitation to fully confront powerful figures or systemic issues, as highlighted by controversies like the Epstein files and political compromises, reveals a pattern where liberal principles are compromised. I’ve seen firsthand how this rooting out of uncomfortable truths can feel divisive, but it’s essential to push beyond polite discourse. Liberals may prioritize institutional independence or political optics over immediate action against fascist elements, which frustrates many activists seeking bold, tangible change. It’s also important to recognize that historically, liberal parties have at times supported or enabled fascist regimes through passive or direct collaboration. This pattern isn’t new and has been seen globally—from Argentina to Indonesia. True anti-fascist efforts require a coalition that doesn’t shy away from critiquing anyone who fails to stand firmly against oppressive powers. I believe embracing a more radical, uncompromising stance is necessary to create a united front against fascism. It means being willing to hold allies accountable and reject half-measures that allow dangerous ideologies to fester. This approach isn’t about division for its own sake, but about effectiveness in protecting democracy and human rights. Ultimately, leftists often carry the heaviest burden in confronting fascism, and our responsibility is to foster awareness about who enables these threats and how we can respond with courage and clarity. This article resonates with my own belief that the time for cautious debate has passed—we must act decisively and expose hypocrisy wherever it exists in order to genuinely oppose fascist forces.
