Chicken Cordon Bleu Stuffed Crust Pizza (Part 1)
I did a chicken stuffed crust pizza before so I thought I'd do it again but add ham & cheese 😂
The chicken was cooked in butter with some Oscar's honey garlic rub then set aside to make the sauce...more butter, cream, dijon, more honey garlic rub, and pepper. Whisk, simmer, reduce, adjust to taste.
I hate making dough so I used store bought 🤣 line the edge with chicken, ham, & swiss cheese then roll and tuck it under.
Bake @ 550° on cast iron using the bottom oven rack, sprinkle of parsley, & enjoy! 😁
Making a Chicken Cordon Bleu Stuffed Crust Pizza at home is a fun and rewarding cooking project, especially when you incorporate some creative shortcuts and quality ingredients. Using store-bought dough can save time and reduce stress if you’re not keen on making dough from scratch. The key to elevating this pizza lies in the flavors of the filling and the sauce. For the chicken, using a rub like Oscar’s honey garlic adds a wonderful balance of sweet and savory notes that really complements both the ham and Swiss cheese. Cooking the chicken in butter before combining it with the sauce ensures it stays moist and flavorful. Speaking of sauce, a blend of butter, cream, Dijon mustard, honey garlic rub, and pepper creates a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet sauce that ties everything together. This sauce simmers and reduces to concentrate the flavors, making every bite rich and delicious. When assembling, lining the crust edge with the chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese, then rolling and tucking it under, creates a stuffed crust that oozes flavor as you bite into it. Baking the pizza on a cast iron skillet set on the bottom oven rack at a high temperature (550°F) ensures a crisp crust with a nicely cooked interior. Finishing with a sprinkle of parsley adds freshness and color. From my own experience, using a cast iron skillet really makes a difference—it distributes heat evenly and gives a restaurant-quality crust texture. Also, you can customize the filling with your favorite cured meats or different cheeses like Gruyère or mozzarella for a more gooey texture. Adding a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce or as a topping can add a nice kick if you enjoy a bit of heat. If you’re looking to make this pizza a bit healthier, consider using low-fat cream or a lighter cheese option; however, the richness is what makes it feel indulgent and special. It’s a great option for weekend cooking when you want to impress friends or family while keeping the process enjoyable and approachable. Enjoy experimenting with flavors and textures, and don’t be afraid to put your own spin on this unique stuffed crust pizza!
