Postpartum has been harder on my body than I expected. In many ways, postpartum healing has made me feel like I'm starting over.

Yes, of course you’ll see anti-inflammatory recipes and healthy routines here. But what comes first for me... is the 10 minutes of getting ready with worship music playing in the background.

The goal isn’t just to "heal". It’s to enjoy the process of postpartum healing, so I can be a happy mother, wife, and educator.

What does that mean for you? Start with steps that are doable. Want to feel like you’re making progress? Get more wins.

As for me, this looks like:

🏆 My husband and I making our bed together

🏆 Drinking three sips of water before coffee

🏆 Brushing my teeth before I start my day

🏆 Brushing my hair and doing my skincare daily

Will getting my pink back require more than these four things? Of course. (Like exercising consistently… ugh, please help.) As for right now, I am establishing a foundation so that when working out becomes top priority, I have firm ground to stand on.

What no one is saying... You’re human, not a math equation. Setting you and your body up for success starts with “setting the stage” to win, not just trying hard. "Wanting to feel better" will only get you so far.

Whether you’re on a healing journey postpartum or increasing your odds of autoimmune remission, follow along to see the behind-the-scenes of what I’m priortizing first to stay in remission postpartum.

... Read moreNavigating postpartum recovery while managing autoimmune conditions like scleroderma can feel overwhelming, especially when your body seems to be starting over. From my personal experience, the key is embracing small, consistent actions that create a foundation for healing rather than expecting instant transformation. One habit that changed my mindset was dedicating a few minutes each morning to getting ready fully rather than rushing or skipping self-care. This simple ritual, accompanied by worship music, helps me reconnect with myself and sets a positive tone for the day. It's not just about physical healing but nurturing mental and emotional health. Hydration early in the morning—three sips of water before coffee—may sound small, but it jumpstarts my metabolism and aids digestion, which is critical for autoimmune balance. Likewise, brushing my teeth, washing my face, and a consistent skincare routine help me feel human again during times postpartum that can be challenging. I also found that involving my partner, like making the bed together, fosters emotional support and a sense of teamwork in this journey. These manageable wins bring momentum and reduce feelings of pressure or failure that often come with aiming for major health goals right away. While sustained exercise and more intense routines are important for regaining strength and wellness, they have to come after creating this stable groundwork. Postpartum healing blended with autoimmune remission is not a race but a process of honoring both your physical limits and emotional needs. Above all, acknowledging that you are more than a sum of symptoms or a condition allows you to set realistic expectations. By focusing on “setting the stage” through these small but meaningful daily habits, you empower yourself to enjoy healing and motherhood in a balanced, joyful way. If you’re on a similar path, I encourage you to find your own version of these gentle self-renewal practices. It’s okay to start small and build gradually. Healing postpartum with autoimmune considerations is unique for everyone, and every positive step counts toward creating a fulfilling life.
