Luteal Phase and My Face

Postpartum in itself is a crazy time for hormones not to mention when your cycle is trying to coming back. My daughter is coming up on 7 months old next week. (That’s so crazy) Last month was the first time my period showed up, since I found out I was pregnant.

Although having all that time with no period was super chill, very relaxing, very demure. I now very much would like my period to come so I know I’m not pregnant. I know I can keep testing but ideally it would be cool if my body could do her thing. I’m thankfully on the pill so I’m not too worried about being pregnant.

My skin, and body are definitely telling me that Aunt Flow is making her way to town. If only she could let me know when her flight lands. There’s just a part of me that wants to get it done and over for the month so my body can feel better. All in good time I suppose and at the very least my few pimples I get from it have came and gone.

... Read moreThe luteal phase marks an important time in the menstrual cycle, particularly after childbirth. This phase usually occurs after ovulation and before menstruation, gearing up your body for potential pregnancy. For new mothers, navigating this hormonal terrain can be overwhelming as the body readjusts. During this time, women may experience a variety of changes, including skin breakouts, mood swings, and cravings due to fluctuating hormones. It is essential to maintain self-care and monitor physical changes to adapt effectively. Postpartum, the body seeks to reclaim balance after the intense changes brought about by pregnancy. It's normal to worry about the return of your menstrual cycle, especially when breast-feeding can affect hormonal levels. Many women report feeling anxious about their cycles as they manage the responsibility of motherhood while trying to ensure their health. Recognizing signs of the luteal phase, such as changes in skin texture or mood, can be helpful. Embracing supportive practices such as using calming skincare products, practicing mindfulness, and speaking with health professionals can aid in navigating these transitions. Community support can also play a pivotal role; sharing experiences and strategies with other new moms can provide insights and comfort during this unique phase of life. Whether it's discussions about birth control options or simply venting frustrations about mood swings, connecting with peers can offer relief and understanding in this journey.

I have irregular periods and I think I stay in the Luteal phase for longer than normal. I feel your pain. It’s so frustrating to feel your body preparing but have no clue when you’ll actually start. Wishing us both easy, regular cycles! 🫶🏼
