I was tired of my sourdough taking over my kitchen… 🍞
Sometimes the best reset is tackling that one space you’ve been avoiding. 😊
Yesterday’s project was my laundry pantry, and it was definitely overdue! My goal wasn’t just to make it look nicer. I wanted to create enough room for my sourdough supplies without taking over my kitchen cabinets.
I cleaned up the spills with Tough & Tender, disinfected the space with my Sol-U-Mel Disinfectant, and completely reworked what I already had instead of buying new organizers.
This is the before and after. Now tell me…would you tackle this project, or would you have closed the door and walked away? 😂
The final organized setup is coming in my next reel!
Managing sourdough supplies can quickly overwhelm kitchen storage, especially for avid bakers who maintain an active starter and numerous baking essentials. From personal experience, setting aside a dedicated space outside the main kitchen—like a laundry pantry—can be a game changer. This not only creates room for your ingredients, flour bags, and tools but also reduces kitchen clutter and keeps your cooking space more pleasant. I found that using multi-purpose cleaning products like Tough & Tender for spills and a disinfectant such as Sol-U-Mel not only helped sanitize the space thoroughly but made the pantry inviting and fresh. It’s important to clean and disinfect before organizing, as food storage areas benefit from being hygienic to prevent contamination. Instead of immediately buying new organizers, reassess what you already have. Repurposing existing containers or shelves can save money and encourage more sustainable habits. For example, plastic bins, baskets, and drawer organizers can be rearranged to perfectly fit sourdough starters, proofing baskets, and baking tools. Customizing your setup to fit your routine is key—consider what you use most often and keep these items accessible. One tip I learned was to label containers clearly. Even in a dedicated pantry, having labeled baskets or jars helps streamline baking sessions and maintenance of the sourdough starter. Lastly, don’t shy away from tackling spaces that have been neglected. I was initially hesitant to reorganize my laundry pantry since it’s a multi-use area. However, once I committed, it not only freed up kitchen cabinets but enhanced my overall baking experience, reducing stress and making sourdough prep much more enjoyable. If you’re struggling with sourdough taking over your kitchen, think about untapped spaces like a laundry pantry, and try my approach of deep cleaning, disinfecting, and creatively rearranging what you already own. Your kitchen will thank you, and so will your sourdough!
