Homemade sourdough crust pizza 🤤

Hey y’all!! I make my own sourdough pizza dough and it’s phenomenal!!! Here’s my recipe for the dough:

225g sourdough starter, inactive

1 cup warm water; add an additional tbsp at a time if dough is too dry

1 tsp yeast

2 tsp Italian seasoning

2 tsp salt

0.5 tsp garlic powder

300g flour

1 tbsp olive oil

Combine well, then knead for 10 mins. Let rest for 2 hr. Once done resting, preheat oven to 450°. oil one 14” round pan (thick crust) or two 12” pizza pans (thin crust). Divide dough accordingly. Press dough to edges of pan, making the crust as thick as you like. OPTIONAL: put a thin layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on the edge and roll up the edges for a cheese filled crust!

Then: add pizza sauce to your desired amount, bake 10 min for thick crust or 7 min for thin crust. Take out of oven, add cheese and other toppings. Put back in oven for about 12 min, or until cheese is melted and golden brown to your preference. Remove from oven and eat while hot 🤍

... Read moreMaking homemade sourdough pizza is not just about the recipe; it’s about the joy of crafting something delicious from scratch. The key ingredient, sourdough starter, gives the pizza its unique flavor and texture, distinguishing it from traditional yeast-based pizzas. Begin by ensuring your sourdough starter is bubbly and active, even though for this recipe, you'll be using it in its inactive state. Other enhancements to your pizza experience can include experimenting with different cheeses, such as provolone or goat cheese, to add more depth to the flavor. You can also mix various toppings to suit your preference: consider adding caramelized onions, fresh basil, or roasted vegetables for a gourmet touch. For those who prefer a spicy kick, incorporate crushed red pepper flakes or jalapeños. Don’t forget to customize the crust thickness to your liking; a thicker crust provides a nice chewiness while a thinner crust is crispier. Pair your pizza with a simple salad or garlic bread for a complete meal. Homemade sourdough pizza is perfect for family gatherings, date nights, or a cozy evening at home. Enjoy creating a pizza that not only tastes great but is also a fun project to share with loved ones!
