Dinner Idea: Steak and Shrimp in Cajun Sauce🍤 🥩

Ingredients:

- 1 steak of your choosing

- Salt and pepper

- 1 tbsp olive oil

- 2 tbsp butter

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- Fresh herbs (optional)

Instructions:

1. Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook more evenly.

2. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and pepper.

3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.

4. Once the skillet is hot, add the steak. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it. This allows for a nice sear to form.

5. Flip the steak and add the butter, garlic, and fresh herbs to the skillet. Use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter, garlic, and herbs.

6. Continue to cook the steak for another 4-5 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature – medium well is around 150-155°F.

7. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

8. Enjoy your delicious stove-top cooked medium well steak!

Chimichurri:

Ingredients:

- 1 cup packed fresh parsley leaves

- 1/2 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves

- 3 cloves garlic, minced

- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar

- 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

- 1 tsp dried oregano

- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. In a food processor, combine the parsley, cilantro, and garlic. Pulse until finely chopped.

2. Add the red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to the food processor. Pulse until well combined and the mixture is smooth.

3. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. If the chimichurri is too thick, you can add more olive oil to reach your desired consistency.

4. Transfer the chimichurri to a bowl and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

5. Serve the chimichurri sauce alongside grilled meats, such as steak, chicken, or fish. It can also be used as a marinade or dressing for salads. Enjoy your homemade chimichurri sauce!

- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

- 1 bunch broccolini

- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped

- 1 cup chicken broth

- 1/2 cup heavy cream

- 2 tbsp butter

- 1 cup Parmesan cheese

- Cajun seasoning

- Parsley

- Salt and pepper

- Olive oil

Instructions:

1.In a separate skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until pink and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

2. In the same skillet, add the broccolini and sauté for 4-5 minutes, or until tender. Season with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Set aside.

3. In a large pot, boil the chopped potatoes until tender. Drain and mash the potatoes with butter, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.

4. In the same shrimp and broccolini pan, heat some heavy cream over medium heat. Add chicken broth and cheese. Add Cajun seasoning to taste and simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. (I added parsley for color). Add shrimp back to pan and let it simmer with the sauce for 3 minutes.

5. To serve, place a scoop of mashed potatoes on a plate, top with sliced steak, broccolini, and shrimp. Drizzle the Cajun sauce over the potatoes and put the chimichurri on the steak. Enjoy your delicious meal!
