- What’s your #1 ADHD survival hack?? 🌱🤨

I’ll get into something and hours go by before it hits me that I haven’t eaten.

By then I’m starving and too annoyed to cook a full meal. Then my stomach hurts from not eating, but I feel too bad to make anything… so it just turns into an endless cycle.

What helps me a little is keeping easy finger foods with protein on hand.

Stuff like string cheese, boiled eggs, or turkey roll-ups. Just things I can grab the second I remember. It’s not perfect, but it keeps me from skipping meals completely. 😐😐

So now I’m wondering… what’s your # 1 ADHD survival hack? I need new ideas.

... Read moreLiving with ADHD often comes with challenges like hyperfocus, which can lead to forgetting basic needs such as eating. This can cause a cycle of hunger and discomfort, impacting both physical and mental well-being. To address this, keeping easy finger foods high in protein—such as string cheese, boiled eggs, or turkey roll-ups—within immediate reach can help prevent skipping meals during hyperfocused periods. In addition to stocking protein-rich snacks, establishing simple routines can greatly improve daily functioning. Using phone reminders or alarm apps to prompt regular eating times can counteract the tendency to lose track of time. Preparing meal components in advance, like pre-chopped vegetables or ready-to-eat snacks, reduces the need for extensive cooking, which can seem overwhelming when distracted. Other successful strategies include creating an ADHD-friendly environment that minimizes distractions, enabling smoother transitions between tasks. It can also be beneficial to share your experiences and seek community support, as connecting with others facing similar challenges provides new ideas and motivation. Incorporating mindfulness practices and short breaks throughout the day helps increase awareness of bodily needs, reducing the likelihood of exhaustion or neglecting basic care. Lastly, consulting healthcare professionals for personalized advice, including nutrition and productivity planning, ensures a comprehensive approach. By combining easy-to-access nutritious snacks with mindful routines and community support, individuals with ADHD can better manage their hyperfocus and maintain their health effectively.
