Rainbow sourdough kinda day 🌈🍞

Same tangy goodness, just way more fun to slice ✨

After the the stretching filled, I divided it into four pieces and mixed with color of your choice. I chose blue green, pink and purple. After the first proof you lay and shaped the dough to prep for the second proofing. This method is good for different types of inclusions as well. Hope the tip helps!

... Read moreBaking rainbow sourdough bread is such an enjoyable and creative way to elevate your baking routine. When I tried this at home, I found that after dividing the dough into separate portions, using natural food coloring or even vegetable powders like spirulina for green or beetroot powder for pink works wonderfully to achieve vivid colors without altering the sourdough’s flavor. An important tip is to handle each colored dough gently during mixing and shaping to maintain the distinct colors without blending them too much. When you stretch, fold, and arrange each segment before the second proofing, it helps maintain beautiful color layers. Also, giving the dough enough time to proof properly enhances the texture and tanginess that sourdough lovers crave. Additionally, this method isn’t limited to color alone—it’s perfect for adding fun inclusions like seeds, nuts, or dried fruits in each portion, which adds diverse flavors and textures to each slice. Cutting into the baked loaf reveals a mesmerizing rainbow pattern, making it a fantastic centerpiece for gatherings or an exciting way to encourage kids to try homemade bread. Overall, baking rainbow sourdough is not just about the aesthetics; it’s about the joy of experimenting and creating something uniquely yours in the kitchen. Give it a try and enjoy the process as much as the delicious results!

It features an illustration of a baked sourdough loaf and lists necessary ingredients like a glass jar, filtered water, bread flour, a small rubber spatula, and measuring cups.
Sourdough starter : for beginners
TIP #1 : For your first measurement, weigh the flour using a kitchen scale so you can get an idea of how the mixture should feel. Do not weigh the measuring cup! It should be like a thick paste, like peanut butter. If you need to add a little more water to incorporate the flour, that is OK too!
