Weight Loss after Surgery! 🏥🏋🏼‍♀️✨

I had roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery on 2/23/26.

SW: 232

CW: 170

GW: 125-135

It was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make for myself, but I am so glad I did!

I have PCOS so losing weight is very hard for me. Before I had my second daughter, I was very active and ate extremely healthy, almost to a fault. The weight came off fairly quickly and I maintained a toned body for 5 years.

Fast forward, I had my second daughter at 29 and when I tell you hitting 30 slows down your metabolism, I mean it. My PCOS symptoms were significantly worse after my second child and I felt so defeated. No matter what I did, the weight just kept piling on. I hated looking in the mirror because I didn’t recognize myself. I had developed NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease) and had no energy.

My mental health was at an all time low and I knew I needed an extra tool to help me. After a year of contemplating and 6 months of following the pre-surgery program I took the leap and got bariatric surgery on 2/23/26.

I was worried about the stigma initially but then read/followed so many amazing stories from people who got it and had so much success that all of that doubt flew out the window.

Now: I no longer have NAFLD, I have lost 62 lbs in 5 months and feel AMAZING!

If you’re contemplating weight loss surgery. Trust the process. The first few weeks/months are HARD, and it’s a complete lifestyle change afterwards, but once you get into the habits, the weight falls off and your health improves, you’ll be glad you did it!

... Read moreChoosing to undergo Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery was a transformative decision, especially grappling with PCOS and metabolic issues like NAFLD that made weight loss extremely difficult. The surgery alone isn’t a magic fix—it's a kickstart requiring deep commitment to a new lifestyle. Pre-surgery preparation is crucial. I spent six months on a rigorous pre-op program which helped mentally and physically prepare me for what was to come. Once the surgery was done, adapting to the drastic diet change was challenging. The first few weeks involved a liquid and soft foods diet, gradual reintroduction of solid foods, and constant hydration. Sticking to these guidelines strictly helped ease my recovery and prevented complications. Physical activity also became a key pillar of my journey. Starting with gentle walks as soon as I could and progressively increasing exercise intensity helped enhance metabolism and muscle tone. For people with PCOS, this combination of surgery, diet control, and physical activity can help manage insulin resistance and improve hormonal balance. Mentally, it was important to combat the stigma and self-doubt. Connecting with online communities and hearing others' success stories helped build my confidence. Celebrating small milestones kept my motivation high. Since undergoing surgery, the improvement in my liver health has been a highlight—no more NAFLD symptoms and boosted energy levels. This journey is a reminder that with patience, realistic expectations, and commitment to lifestyle changes, bariatric surgery can serve as a powerful tool for reclaiming health. If you’re contemplating weight loss surgery, trust the process, prepare thoroughly, and surround yourself with support. The path may be tough early on, but the long-term benefits are absolutely worth it.

Saggy skin after weight loss can occur when the skin doesn't have time to adjust to a new body shape, especially if the weight is lost quickly or in large amounts. This can happen through diet and exercise, but it's more common in people who have weight loss surgery. When someone is overwei

Preparing for weight loss surgery
1) purchase bariatric vitamins (need to have iron in them) 2) Invest in protein powder (you can buy a big tub of it at Walmart for $25.00 3) Buy some crystal light packets & jello (believe it or not, they are sugar free!) 4) Discuss with your doctor if the bypass or sleeve is best for you.
