27 weeks…1 Hr glucose test & growth scan! Still crazy to how far we are in this pregnancy. We are grateful every day & week that goes by! The normal glucola drink they give you routinely at the OB has made me feel so sick and triggered my IBS bad in the past I would be in the bathroom with in 15 min of drinking it!!!. So I looked for an alternative that my dr would approve and upon my research I came across @The Fresh Test They were so kind to send one to me in time for the test. Let me tell you this drink tastes like lemonade!! It was actually really good!! I did have some jitters but it did not trigger my IBS which is a HUGE plus. @battle_dispatch_dreams

During pregnancy, undergoing the 1-hour glucose test can be a stressful experience, especially for those of us with sensitive digestive systems like IBS. I wanted to share more about my journey this week at 27 weeks, when I had both the glucose screening and a growth scan. From personal experience, the traditional glucola drink commonly used for gestational diabetes testing often causes me severe nausea and bathroom urgency due to my IBS. It’s uncomfortable and worrisome, especially when you want to focus on the health of your baby rather than digestive distress. Thankfully, after researching alternatives my doctor would approve, I discovered The Fresh Test drink. It’s a lemonade-flavored glucose test solution that tasted surprisingly pleasant and didn’t trigger my IBS symptoms. Drinking something that actually tastes good and doesn’t send me running to the restroom was a huge relief. I only experienced slight jitters, which is common due to the sugar load, but no digestive upset. If you also suffer from IBS or digestive issues but need to pass the glucose screening, I highly recommend asking your healthcare provider about this alternative. It made a significant difference for me by easing anxiety and discomfort while allowing accurate blood sugar testing. Pregnancy is a journey full of challenges, but solutions like this can make routine tests more manageable. Remember, it’s important to communicate your symptoms and concerns with your OB or midwife. They can guide you toward options that work best for your health. Finally, following this test, my growth scan showed reassuring progress. Each week is a milestone we cherish, especially after pregnancy loss experiences. Staying positive, informed, and proactive about managing gestational diabetes risk while protecting my digestive health has been empowering. I hope this insight encourages other moms-to-be navigating glucose testing with IBS or sensitivity to find better alternatives and have a smoother pregnancy experience.
