First time being fatshamed online!

I am a bigger girl. I’m 5’5” and weighed in at 265 last Monday. My weight has always fluctuated and after my last major multiple sclerosis flare up, I started to pack on the pounds. I recently decided to make fitness a priority again ✨

Let’s make one thing clear- you are worthy no matter what you weigh. As long as you are taking care of yourself, I don’t care what the scale says. Same goes for myself. But I would be lying if I told you I’m a person who has healthy habits. So I’m changing them, actively! I’m taking care of myself again. 🫶🏼

I weighed in today at 253. That’s 12 lbs down!! I’ve been controlling my portions more mindfully, moving my body more, and drinking more water. I’m going to start walking around my neighborhood with the kiddos asap. I’m thinking about taking body pics so that I can track my progress physically 💪🏻

I was fatshamed on TikTok today, in the comments of someone else’s video. I didn’t really post on socials until recently so this is the first time it’s happened. Someone took the time to go to my profile and formulate a personal insult about me. To be quite honest, I’m flattered. They had no response to what I was saying, so they went for my looks 💁🏻‍♀️

My feelings are not hurt at all, but even just a year ago they totally would’ve been. Does this mean I’m ready to post those pics of my body?! I really want to track my progress and get some support during my journey but I’m not sure how to best accomplish what I want.

Let me know what you think!!

... Read moreFatshaming occurs when someone mocks another's weight or body size, often seen on social platforms like TikTok. This can negatively impact mental health, causing anxiety and depression. However, sharing your story can be empowering. To combat fatshaming, surround yourself with supportive communities that uplift rather than diminish. Engage in positive body talk and challenge societal beauty standards. Regular movements, mindful eating, and hydration are key components of a healthy lifestyle, which shouldn't be tied to your worth. Remember, your journey is personal; track your progress in ways that uplift you, like taking pictures or journaling. Celebrate small victories, as they lead to significant changes over time. The support from friends and family can reinforce your self-esteem, making the path to wellness more enjoyable. Ultimately, prioritizing self-care and self-love can help you overcome negativity, transforming these experiences into motivation for personal growth.

That’s called bullying and it’s not nice even if you say you’re ok with it. Maybe they haven’t looked at themselves in a mirror lately. People who criticize think they are entitled and above all others. You have a condition and they don’t see it. Haters will always hate…
