What to avoid for healthy hormones ✨

endocrine disruptors sneak up on you! Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can mimic, block, or interfere with hormones in the body's endocrine systems.

Here’s products to avoid for potential endocrine disruptors:

perfume: perfume contains undisclosed chemicals that are endocrine disruptors! On the ingredient label, fragrance (parfume) is listed, but they don’t tell you what chemicals make up that fragrance!

fragrance in skin care: similar to perfume, cosmetic products that contain fragrance don’t have all of the ingredients listed that are actually in the fragrance. And the chemicals found in the fragrance contain hormone disruptors.

non organic produce: pesticides like glyphosate, DDT, Chlorpyrifos (& more) used on non organic produce are endocrine disruptors. Buy local, organic produce as much as possible!!

plastic: there are lots of endocrine disruptors in plastic! Try to avoid using plastic water bottles, plastic cutting boards, plastic cookware, food packaged in plastic, etc.

non organic menstrual care: non organic cotton tampons and pads contain pesticides that can disrupt hormones. They also contain plastic if they are not 100% organic cotton which also throws off hormones!

alcohol: alcohol messes with your estrogen levels, thyroid, cortisol, and gut health! Try drinking more mindfully and switching out cocktails for mocktails ✨

I know it can be overwhelming to think about switching out all these products, but try one thing at a time

... Read moreEndocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with your body’s hormonal balance, often found in everyday products. Understanding what to avoid can empower you to make healthier choices. 1. **Perfume and Fragrance:** These often contain undisclosed chemicals that can disrupt hormones. Opt for products labeled as fragrance-free to minimize exposure. 2. **Skincare Products:** Many skincare items include fragrance or artificial ingredients that may affect your hormonal health. Choosing organic and fragrance-free options helps reduce risks. 3. **Non-Organic Produce:** The use of chemicals like glyphosate on non-organic fruits and vegetables is concerning. Prioritizing organic produce reduces exposure to harmful pesticides. 4. **Plastic Items:** Plastics contain numerous endocrine disruptors that can leach into food and beverages. Switch to glass or stainless steel containers when possible. 5. **Menstrual Care Products:** Non-organic cotton pads and tampons may carry pesticides or plastics that can disrupt hormonal balance. Look for organic alternatives to ensure safety. 6. **Alcohol Consumption:** Alcohol can negatively impact estrogen, thyroid levels, and overall hormonal function. Consider reducing alcohol intake and opting for healthier beverage choices, such as mocktails, to maintain hormone health. By being mindful of what we consume and use in our daily lives, we can significantly improve hormone balance and overall well-being.
