Kentucky Derby Pie Recipe

This was a best seller during the holidays for my home bakery! It’s always a hit at Thanksgiving

Ingredients:

• 1 cup sugar

• 1/2 cup flour

• 2 eggs slightly beaten

• 1 stick butter melted

• 1 cup pecans (chopped small)

• 1 cup chocolate chips

• 1 tsp vanilla

• 1 unbaked pie shell

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325* F

Mix sugar and flour well

Add eggs, butter, and vanilla. Stir well.

Add pecans and chocolate chips. Stir well.

Pour into pie shell and bake 60 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean in the middle.

Notes:

• If your crust starts to get too brown before the middle is cooked, cover the pie with foil and continue baking.

• Since oven temperatures can vary, be sure to check the middle of your pie to see that it is cooked throughout with a toothpick coming out clean, otherwise you may need to add 10-20 minutes to the baking time
