“BULLYING TO LOSE WEIGHT” TREND

I’ve been seeing lots of content recently on TikTok and Lemon8 saying “bully me to lose weight in the comments” as motivation for you to try to lose weight.

Personally I find this mindset so toxic and it’s crazy to me that these tactics actually work for people😭

I think this trend is mentally unhealthy and only creates insecurities that I feel a lot of the times are unnecessary…

I value my mental health and try to be very general to my mind. I feel that if not, my mind could get toxic really fast.

I think that we need to flip the mindset and remind ourselves that we only get one body for the rest of our lives. It is yours to take care of as best as possible. We can to be positive and gentle to ourselves while also taking care of ourselves and being healthy🫶🏼

I hate to see girls putting bad thoughts into other girl’s minds under the guise of creating motivation.

Does anyone else agree with me?

... Read moreThe 'bully me to lose weight' trend has been gaining traction, primarily on platforms like TikTok and Lemon8, where individuals seek negative comments as inspiration to shed pounds. This trend can perpetuate toxic behavior that harms mental well-being. Instead of fostering motivation through insults, it is crucial to cultivate a supportive environment that champions self-love and acceptance. Negative reinforcement can lead to increased insecurities and mental health struggles, particularly among impressionable young women. Instead of relying on such harmful tactics, consider alternative methods that promote a healthier and more holistic approach to weight loss and personal wellness. Engaging with communities that encourage positive reinforcement can create a more fulfilling weight loss journey. Techniques such as setting realistic goals, practicing mindful eating, and focusing on physical activities that bring joy can foster genuine progress without compromising mental health. Remember, your body deserves care and respect; the right mindset can help develop a healthier relationship with food and exercise. If you find yourself affected by trends like these, it may be beneficial to seek support from professionals or communities that promote a healthier dialogue surrounding body image and weight loss.

The "bullying to lose weight" trend can definitely be harmful. Motivation should come from a place of self-love and respect, not from negativity or insecurity. It's important to remember that healthy habits should be about taking care of ourselves, not about fitting into a certain image or letting others dictate how we should feel.

This is genuinely such a horrible trend. Weight loss needs to come from a place of wanting to better yourself, not asking strangers to destroy your mental health. The fact that strangers online will willingly do that to others also blows my mind.
