Homemade Gut-Healthy Marshmallows
✨Soft, fluffy, and good for your gut! These marshmallows are made with simple, wholesome ingredients—perfect for topping your favorite hot cocoa or just snacking on their own. Bonus: they're naturally sweetened and packed with gelatin for a boost to your gut health and joints.✨
Here’s how to make them:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup gelatin
- 1/2 cup room temp water
- 1 cup maple syrup
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 tsp (or more) vanilla extract
Instructions
- Add 1/2 cup warm water to a mixing bowl and sprinkle gelatin on top. Stir and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine room temp water, maple syrup, and sea salt in a saucepan. Slowly bring to a boil, whisking frequently.
- Begin mixing the bloomed gelatin on low speed (it will be a tough blob—don’t worry, that ’s good).
- Gradually pour the hot syrup mixture into the bowl while mixing, increasing the speed as you go.
- Add vanilla extract and mix on high for about 15 minutes, until it looks like marshmallow fluff and cools down.
- Grease a container with coconut oil or beef tallow and pour the marshmallow mix in.
- Dust with a little powdered sugar, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
- Slice into your desired shapes and sizes. Store in the fridge for up to 1 month.
Pro tip: Pair these with your favorite hot cocoa for National Cocoa Day on 12/13. Keep an eye out for my cocoa recipe coming soon.☕️
