Salmon Balls
Making salmon balls at home is both fun and rewarding. From my experience, using fresh salmon gives the best flavor, but canned salmon can be a convenient substitute without sacrificing taste. The key step is to balance the moisture—too wet a mixture can make the balls fall apart, while too dry makes them dense. Adding a binder like breadcrumbs or soaked bread helps achieve that ideal texture. I usually gently pan-fry my salmon balls in a little oil, as the OCR hints with "IT OIL," to create a golden crust that adds crunch and locks in moisture. Using a non-stick skillet and moderate heat prevents burning and ensures even cooking. For an extra burst of flavor, mixing finely chopped onions, garlic, and herbs like dill or parsley into the mixture brings freshness and depth. Serving salmon balls with a dipping sauce, such as a tangy tartar or a spicy mayo, enhances the eating experience. They work well as appetizers at parties, snacks between meals, or even as a main dish when paired with a salad or rice. Experimenting with seasonings like lemon zest or a hint of chili flakes can make the recipe your own. Overall, homemade salmon balls are an excellent way to enjoy seafood in a versatile and delicious way.
