John Wayne casserole 🫶
It’s a mix of different recipes I found online.
1 1/2 lbs of ground beef
1 can of fire roasted green chiles
1/2 an onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
3 small sweet peppers, diced
2 Roma tomatoes, diced
7.5 oz cream cheese and chives
1/3 cup of both Mayo and sour cream
2 1/4 cup of bisquick
2 cups of water
1 taco packet
1 cup each of shredded pepper jack cheese and sharp cheddar
1 tbs of oil for browning the meat
Preheat your oven to 325°F and spray a 9x13 casserole pan. In a pot start out by browning the meat a little, then add in onion, sweet peppers, garlic, salt and pepper. While that’s cooking, I make my dough with the bisquick and water. Spread that as best you can to the bottom of the casserole pan making sure to come up the sides a bit to hold the meat better. Drain the meat and add the taco packet to it. Once that’s mixed well turn the heat off. Next I mixed the cream cheese, mayo, sour cream, 1/2 cup of pepper jack cheese, 1/2 cup of sharp cheddar and some salt pepper and garlic powder. Now I spread the meat onto the dough and topped it with the diced Roma tomatoes and green chiles. Carefully spoon the cream cheese mix on as evenly as possible and top it with the remaining cheeses. I like to sprinkle parsley on top for a little color. Bake for 30-35 minutes when the edges get browned and slightly crispy.
