Nutritional balance tops my list — I try to include a healthy mix of proteins, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. For example, a meal with grilled chicken, quinoa, and steamed broccoli feels satisfying and nourishing to me. Another thing I pay attention to is how the meal makes me feel afterwards. If it leaves me energized and not sluggish, it’s usually a good sign. Sometimes, meals heavy in processed ingredients or excess sugar can make me feel tired or bloated. Portion size is also key. A good meal should fuel your body without leaving you overly full or still hungry shortly after. I also think about the ingredients’ freshness and preparation. Fresh, whole foods often taste better and provide more nutrients than processed ones. I try to minimize fried or overly salty dishes. In short, a good meal is one that tastes enjoyable, nourishes the body with a good nutrient balance, uses wholesome ingredients, and supports your overall energy and well-being. When I ask myself 'is this a good meal?' I’m really checking if it meets these standards for both taste and health.
