The depression diaries #7

I just want to feel loved...

and needed.

I wish life we're a little more like slow burn romance books. I want to experience someone being excited to see me. I want to have someone genuinely look at me like I'm the only person in the room. I want them to want me, but need me. I want to desperately to be someone's "everything." I want them to hit me up, just because they thought about me. I want someone to care for me but for the right reasons. Why is that so hard so ask for? I don't want a love where I'm taken advantage of. I don't want someone who won't put effort. I want someone who will grow with me. I want someone to be proud to call me "theirs," without being embarrassed. I want a real love.

... Read moreFeeling truly loved and needed is a universal desire that deeply resonates with many people. In today’s fast-paced world, where relationships can sometimes feel superficial or rushed, the yearning for a slow, meaningful connection—much like those found in slow-burn romance stories—is completely understandable. Many of us crave that special someone who sees us as their priority, who lights up at the sight of us, and who reaches out simply because we were on their mind. This desire goes beyond casual attraction; it’s about being valued not just for companionship, but as an irreplaceable part of someone’s life. Authentic love involves mutual growth, respect, and pride in one another. It’s natural to want to feel that your partner is proud to claim you as theirs, and that their affection is genuine, built on trust and emotional investment. It’s also important to want a relationship where effort isn’t one-sided, where your needs and feelings are acknowledged, and where you’re safe from being taken advantage of. This kind of love nurtures self-worth and emotional security. Many people find themselves struggling with loneliness and unreciprocated feelings, which can exacerbate depressive emotions. It helps to remember that seeking real connection is a strong and valid need—there is nothing wrong with wanting to be ‘‘someone’s everything.’’ Sharing these honest thoughts in a freewriting format, as in this diary, can be a therapeutic way to process emotions and track personal growth. If you relate to these feelings, consider reaching out to communities or support groups that emphasize emotional wellness and genuine connections. Investing time in building healthy relationships—whether romantic or platonic—can pave the way to healing and fulfillment. Ultimately, embracing vulnerability and maintaining hope for real love is a courageous and meaningful journey that many share.
