Pan Seared Salmon
Pan seared salmon is one of my favorite go-to meals when I want something both nutritious and satisfying without spending hours in the kitchen. I’ve found that choosing fresh, high-quality salmon fillets is the first key to a great dish. When preparing the salmon, patting the fillets dry ensures a beautifully crisp skin once they hit the hot pan. Using a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned cast iron pan over medium-high heat helps achieve a golden crust. I like to cook the salmon skin side down first, pressing down gently with a spatula for the first minute to prevent curling. After about 4-5 minutes on the skin side, I flip the salmon just once and cook for another 2-3 minutes depending on thickness. This timing keeps the fish moist and tender inside. Seasonings can be as simple as salt and pepper or enhanced with garlic powder, smoked paprika, or fresh herbs like dill or thyme. Drizzling a little lemon juice just before serving brightens the flavors beautifully. Pairing pan seared salmon with quick sides like steamed asparagus, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad makes for a well-rounded, healthy meal. Whether you’re new to cooking salmon or looking to refine your technique, mastering pan searing is a valuable and versatile skill. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the rich flavor and omega-3 benefits of salmon with minimal fuss. Give this method a try, and you’ll likely find it becoming a staple in your recipe rotation for easy, delicious dinners.
