Hey everyone! So glad you loved my easy mauve makeup look for fall. I know many of you are on the hunt for that perfect autumn lip, and one shade that always comes up is the iconic Revlon Spiced Wine. It's truly a cult classic for a reason, embodying that cozy, rich vibe that just screams fall! When I'm putting together a fall makeup look, a shade like Spiced Wine is often my starting point. It’s that deep, warm berry-mauve that instantly elevates any simple routine. What I love about it is how versatile it is – you can dab it on for a sheer, stained effect, or go for a bolder, full-coverage pout. It perfectly complements the 'easy & achievable' goal of my mauve look. Speaking of Revlon, you might have noticed I sometimes reach for shades like 'Glazed Mauve' too, which is also fantastic for creating a similar rich, autumnal feel. While 'Spiced Wine' often leans a bit more into the deep berry-red family, 'Glazed Mauve' can be a touch softer, more plum-mauve. Both are incredible options if you're aiming for that sophisticated, cozy fall lip. If you're struggling to find one, the other often makes for a beautiful alternative, or even a great layering option for added depth. For those of you looking to perfect your Spiced Wine or general mauve lip, here are a few tips I swear by: Prep is Key: Before applying any deep shade, make sure your lips are smooth. A gentle scrub and a hydrating lip balm can make all the difference. I usually let the balm sink in while I do the rest of my makeup. Liner for Definition: For a crisp, long-lasting look, a lip liner in a similar shade to your Spiced Wine lipstick is a game-changer. It helps prevent feathering and creates a neat canvas. Application Technique: I like to apply the lipstick directly from the bullet, then blot with a tissue, and apply a second coat for maximum impact. If you want a softer, more diffused look, use your fingertip to dab the color onto your lips. Balance the Rest of Your Face: With a strong lip like Spiced Wine, I tend to keep my eye makeup a bit more subdued. A wash of a neutral shadow, maybe a hint of eyeliner, and plenty of mascara (like using a touch from a 'Clio palette - luxury beam' for a subtle shimmer) is usually enough. For the face, a natural base (perhaps with a touch of 'Maybelline translucent' powder to set) and a soft blush (like a creamy one from 'Tower28 - 10dtla' if I want a dewy finish) will keep the focus on your gorgeous lips. Don't be afraid to experiment with different textures too! If you love the Spiced Wine color but want a glossier finish, try layering a clear or slightly tinted mauve gloss over it. Or, if you prefer a matte look, lightly blot the finished lip and dust a tiny bit of translucent setting powder over it. Ultimately, whether you choose Revlon Spiced Wine, Glazed Mauve, or another beautiful fall shade, the goal is to feel confident and beautiful. These deeper hues are so flattering and truly capture the essence of the season. Happy experimenting!
