What I’m eating this week when my cravings kick in
Here are a few things that I picked up in anticipation for all the cravings I typically have leading up to my period 😋
Typically, I do crave even more than this, but I limit myself to just a few items to stay within my macros AND keep the grocery bill as low as possible 🫠
During those days leading up to my period, cravings—especially for carbs and comfort foods like pizza—can really take over. From experience, the key to managing these cravings without guilt or overspending is to plan ahead and choose smarter alternatives that satisfy my hunger and my nutritional goals. One of my go-to options during this time is a pizza bagel using healthier or gluten-free brands, like Bridgford, which offers a balance of indulgence and better ingredients. This small treat fulfills my desire for pizza flavors without going overboard on calories or carbs. I also make sure to stock up on nutrient-dense snacks and easy-to-prepare meals that align with my macros, such as high-protein yogurt, mixed nuts, and fresh fruits. These help keep me full and reduce the intensity of less healthy cravings. Incorporating cycle syncing into my wellness routine helps too. By understanding how my body’s nutritional needs fluctuate throughout my menstrual cycle, I adjust my meals and snacks to support hormonal balance and mood stabilization. For example, foods rich in magnesium and vitamin B6 work wonders for alleviating PMS symptoms and curbing cravings. Additionally, setting a grocery budget has been essential. I purposefully limit my cravings to just a few items that satisfy me without breaking the bank. This approach prevents impulse buys and keeps me conscious of portion control. Combining cycle syncing awareness, strategic meal prepping, and thoughtful shopping habits has made tackling period cravings more manageable and less stressful. Sharing these personal insights encourages others to find their own balance between listening to their body’s needs and making mindful food choices during those challenging pre-period days.
