Slightly overstimulated but disgustingly thankful. ♥️ #family #overstimulatedmom #adhdprobs #sendhelpplease😂
Living with ADHD while managing family life can often feel like walking a tightrope, especially when small stressors pile up. I’ve found that overstimulation isn’t just about the external noise or activity; it often hits hardest when you’re already stretched thin and one minor inconvenience threatens to set off a crash. From my experience, having a supportive family is invaluable. Even when I feel on the edge of my limits, moments of connection and understanding can pull me back from overwhelm. Simple things like a family member noticing when I need a break or offering to help with a task can make a huge difference. It's also helpful to recognize personal signs of overstimulation before it escalates. For me, that might be feeling unusually irritable or physically restless. When I catch these early, I try to step back, practice a calming activity, or communicate my needs clearly to those around me. I also embrace humor and honesty about my struggles, which helps others relate and offer support without judgment. Sharing the reality of ADHD and its challenges within a family fosters empathy and reduces stigma. Overall, while minor inconveniences might trigger moments of feeling overwhelmed, there’s a deep gratitude for the patience and love that family members show. This balance of admitting struggle while appreciating support creates a foundation that helps me manage overstimulation and thrive despite it.
