Using a non-stick or well-oiled waffle iron helps prevent sticking and aids the crisping process. I found that crumbled or sliced firm tofu works best; silken tofu is too soft and doesn’t hold up well under the heat and pressure. It's a fun way to change up traditional tofu textures and add a crunchy element to vegan breakfast or snacks. If you’re experimenting with vegan recipes, trying tofu in the waffle maker is definitely worth it. You can top your tofu waffles with savory sauces, fruit compotes, or even further seasonings like smoked paprika or nutritional yeast. Just be ready to wait for that satisfying crispy exterior. It’s a new way to enjoy tofu beyond stir-fries or scrambles and adds variety to plant-based meals.
