Miso Breakfast Rice Recipe

Love using egg and rice for breakfast. It’s really simple but very filling! I thought - why not try adding miso? This is a yummy savory breakfast idea that’s fairly low effort.

Ingredients:

• rice

• miso paste

• egg

• butter

Directions:

1. Prepare rice as instructed. I like 1/4 cup rice for a single serving.

2. Cook egg as desired. I like sunny side up because the yolk adds extra flavor!

3. Remove rice from pot and put in bowl. Mix in about a tablespoon of miso paste and 1/2 tablespoon of butter.

4. Top with egg and mash! Enjoy with sriracha if you want it spicy!

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about why this simple miso and egg breakfast rice has become my ultimate comfort food. It's not just easy; it's genuinely nourishing and so adaptable. When I first started making it, I was surprised by how much flavor you can get from just a few ingredients, especially that rich, savory note from the miso paste combined with the creamy butter and a perfectly cooked egg. One of the biggest game-changers for this bowl is getting that runny yolk just right. I know many of you are searching for tips on fried egg runny yolk rice bowl or sunny side up egg on rice bowl. Here’s my secret: for a perfect sunny-side-up, heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat with a little butter or oil. Crack your egg in, let the whites set, then cover the pan for about 1-2 minutes. This steams the top of the whites without flipping, leaving that gorgeous, liquid gold yolk. When you mash it into the warm rice, it creates the most incredible sauce, truly elevating the miso egg rice bowl experience. Let's talk about the star ingredient: miso! Many people associate miso with soup, but adding white miso paste in bowl directly to your rice is another level of deliciousness for breakfast. It’s packed with probiotics and essential nutrients, making it a fantastic way to kickstart your digestion early in the day. When you mix that dollop of miso paste and a pat of butter into the hot rice, it melts beautifully and infuses every grain with umami. Don't be shy – really stir it in until it's fully mixed miso and egg breakfast rice. For those wondering about miso soup and rice breakfast, while miso soup is wonderful, this method offers a quicker, more concentrated flavor explosion directly in your white rice eggs breakfast bowl without needing to prepare a separate broth. And the rice itself? While I typically use 1/4 cup of rice for a single serving, the type of rice matters too. A medium-grain white rice works wonderfully for its texture, becoming slightly sticky and ideal for soaking up all those flavors. Cooking it perfectly is key – fluffy but not mushy. I often make a batch ahead of time, so it's super fast to assemble in the morning, making it a truly simple white rice breakfast bowl. Finally, don't stop at just the egg and miso! This miso butter rice bowl is a fantastic base for customization. While I love it with a simple drizzle of sriracha or chili oil, you could also add some chopped green onions for freshness, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, or even some quick-sautéed spinach. For those looking for more protein, perhaps a few cooked shrimp (inspired by miso shrimp rice bowl queries) or some shredded chicken could be a great addition to make it a more substantial meal. It's all about making this easy breakfast idea your own and enjoying a satisfying, savory start to your day!
