Pushing Through the Pain: A Lesson in Strength & Surrender

On Friday, while preparing for the EmpowerHER Brunch, I strained my wrist. It hurt but I didn’t say a word.

On Saturday, I greeted and hugged countless guests, smiled through the day, and carried the weight of the moment, literally and emotionally.

But what no one knew was, I was in pain.

And that’s what we do, right ladies?

We push through.

We show up.

We keep going, even when we’re hurting.

Because somewhere along the way, many of us were programmed to believe that strength means silence.

But here’s what I learned: it’s okay to speak up. It’s okay to step back. It’s okay to let others step in.

When the pain got too real, I leaned on my hosts and they handled it beautifully. Because that’s what sisterhood is about: showing up for each other, even when we can’t carry it all.

So let this be your reminder:

You can be strong AND need help.

You can be powerful AND take a pause.

You can be HER and still need healing.

Let’s normalize saying, “I’m not okay right now” and still walking proudly in our purpose.

... Read moreThe concept of pushing through pain while embracing both strength and surrender is central to many personal growth and healing journeys. Often, societal expectations—especially for women—frame strength as enduring pain silently and managing responsibilities independently. However, current psychological research and empowerment movements suggest that acknowledging pain and allowing oneself to receive support are crucial components of authentic strength. In the context of events like the EmpowerHER Brunch, community support and shared vulnerability foster an environment where individuals realize they do not have to bear their burdens alone. Sisterhood, as highlighted in the article, is more than camaraderie; it is about collective resilience and mutual care. This dynamic can significantly enhance emotional health and recovery from physical and psychological pain. Moreover, normalizing expressions such as “I’m not okay right now” dismantles stigma around vulnerability and mental health struggles. Publicly accepting such statements empowers individuals to seek help without shame, creating healthier interpersonal connections and self-acceptance. This balance between showing up and taking necessary pauses is key to sustainable well-being and purpose-driven living. Incorporating hashtags like #EmpowerHER, #HealingInProgress, and #StrengthAndSisterhood reflects growing online communities dedicated to healing, empowerment, and shared support. Engaging with these communities can provide ongoing encouragement, resources, and validation for people navigating their own challenges. Ultimately, this lesson in strength and surrender encapsulates a transformative understanding: true power includes recognizing limits, allowing healing, and valuing connections that uplift during difficult times. By embodying these principles, individuals can move forward confidently while honoring their authentic selves and shared human experiences.
