A Course In Miracles Lesson 73
I will that there be light.
🌿 This morning I caught myself doing something familiar—wishing things had been different.
A different judge.
A shorter sentence.
A world that didn't see me through the lens of my record.
I notice how my body holds these wishes.
A slight tension.
A quiet ache.
The mind reaching backward, trying to rewrite what's already written.
But wishes aren't solutions.
They're static—the noise that keeps me from seeing what's actually here.
In re-entry, it's easy to get trapped in this static.
Every time I wish the past had been different, I build another barrier to my own peace.
The ego wants me to believe that suffering is just the natural order—especially for someone with my history. But that belief is just another story.
One I've been telling so long it feels like fact.
The darkness I see isn't a fact of my life.
It's a choice I make when I focus on grievances instead of the light.
Today I remember:
My will is not separate from Something Bigger.
When I choose light, I stop fighting shadows.
I stop wishing for a different past and start living from a different present.
I will that there be light.
I am MovingStill.
Reflecting on Lesson 73 from A Course In Miracles, I’ve come to recognize how often I hold on to past regrets and wishes for a different reality. This lesson’s powerful reminder, "I will that there be light," encourages us to shift focus from grievances and ego-driven desires toward a more peaceful present moment. In my personal experience, practicing this teaching has been transformative. Initially, I noticed a physical response—tension and a lingering ache—whenever I dwelled on 'what could have been.' Acknowledging the ego's habit of constructing stories of suffering helped me realize that these are not facts but choices reinforced by holding onto darkness. Incorporating the Lesson 73 practice of affirming my will aligned with a larger, divine will has provided a daily tool for grounding myself. Instead of getting caught in mental noise or static, I consciously remind myself that my real power lies in choosing light. This practice eases the burden of self-judgment and opens space to experience life beyond regrets. The original text from A Course In Miracles highlights that the ego’s 'idle wishes' lack creative power and sustain illusions and grievances. Understanding that my will is not separate from God’s plan shifted my perspective, allowing me to release ego-driven conflicts and embrace a will that supports salvation and healing. For those navigating re-entry into life’s challenges or seeking spiritual growth, I recommend using this lesson’s affirmation multiple times a day, especially when confronted with anger or resentment. It complements forgiveness, which lifts darkness from the mind and reflects light outward. Embracing this approach ultimately softens the internal barriers that block peace and deepens the experience of interconnectedness. In essence, to embody Lesson 73 is to move from wishing the past were different toward living fully in the light of the present. This shift brings freedom from suffering and aligns us with the creative will shared with God, inviting salvation not just as a distant concept but as an immediate, lived reality.
