Reset Your Space: The Keep, Donate, Trash System
Decluttering! A lot of people have problems with decluttering their home. What do I throw away? What do I keep? Am I going to get use of this in the future? Should I keep it just in case? These are a lot of questions that run through the minds when trying to part with something.
When my Grandma recently passed this November, I was given the task to go through her belongings and trying to organize it in a way that was easy to digest (especially for my Mom).
Decluttering is the process of removing unnecessary items from your space so that your home feels lighter, calmer, and more functional. It’s less about perfection and more about intentionally choosing what deserves a place in your life.
A simple method is the 3-basket system:
🧺 Keep
Items you:
• Use regularly
• Truly love
• Have a clear place for in your home
🎁 Donate
Items that are:
• Still in good condition
• No longer needed by you
• Useful to someone else
Examples: clothes, books, kitchen items, décor.
🗑️ Trash
Items that are:
• Broken
• Expired
• Damaged beyond repair
• Paper clutter or unusable items
