Propaganda I’m NOT falling for this summer:

Part 1:

☀️ “Summer bodies.”

All bodies are already summer bodies.

☀️ Choosing between hot girl summer and rot girl summer.

How about both? That’s balance baby.

☀️ Beauty is pain.

Girl, it’s also getting enough sleep, drinking water, and regulating your nervous system. It can be fun, relaxing, comfortable. It’s whatever makes you realize you’re already beautiful just doing you, boo.

☀️ You can relax after your to-do list is done.

If that’s the case, I’m putting rest at the top of my list.

☀️ Being alone = being lonely.

I actually thrive alone. I need alone time to recharge my social battery so I can show up as my fullest self when I am out and about.

☀️ You’re too old for XYZ.

Says who?!?! Go to the concert. Wear the skirt. Live your whole life. YOLO, BABY!!!

☀️ Feeling guilty for putting yourself first.

You know why they tell you to put your own life vest on before helping others? Because you can’t help anyone if you’re drowning.

☀️ Needing a man to feel complete.

I’ve never felt more whole than when I stopped giving the best parts of myself to somebody’s ungrateful son.

☀️ Being nonchalant.

Let’s be weird and authentic and silly and sensitive and loud and bold and messy and absolutely lovely.

6/11 Edited to

... Read moreThis summer, I've chosen to reject the usual pressures and expectations society places on us, especially those related to appearance and productivity. The phrase "summer bodies" can often feel like a sneaky way of saying you need to change yourself to fit an unrealistic ideal — but truly, all bodies are summer bodies already. Embracing this mindset brought me immense relief and confidence. I also realized that choosing between "hot girl summer" and "rot girl summer" (which implies doing nothing and just chilling) doesn't have to be an either-or situation. Balance is key — some days I want to be energized and social, other days I need rest and solitude, and both are equally valid. This approach has helped me enjoy the season more without the guilt. Beauty is so often pitched as "pain," but real beauty to me now means taking care of myself through proper sleep, hydration, and regulating my nervous system. These simple acts make me feel relaxed and truly comfortable in my skin — and fun is definitely part of the process! I used to think I had to finish my to-do list before relaxing, but prioritizing rest at the top of my list transformed how I handle stress and productivity. Rest fuels me rather than being a reward after work. Being alone doesn’t equal loneliness anymore. I cherish my alone time because it recharges my social battery and allows me to show up authentically when I do connect with others. Discarding the "too old for XYZ" myth opened doors to new experiences. Whether it’s wearing something bold, attending concerts, or spontaneous trips, life’s too short to be held back by arbitrary age expectations. Putting myself first no longer feels selfish because, like in an airplane, you need to secure your own life vest to help others effectively. This mindset shift increased my capacity to care for those around me. Lastly, I stopped depending on anyone else (especially ungrateful partners) to feel whole. Finding wholeness within myself has been liberating and empowering. This summer, I’m embracing being weird, authentic, silly, sensitive, loud, bold, messy, and above all, absolutely lovely — because that’s exactly who I am.
