fitness propaganda i am NOT falling for

these are some of the biggest lessons i have learned since beginning my journey into health and wellness.

constantly prioritizing feeling and looking my best meant i had to fall in love with myself, learn to trust in myself and respect my mind and body. first and foremost, the toxic motivation HAD TO GO!! i see it all over every social media and constantly trending in the searches. it breaks my heart. when you find a deep enough love for yourself, you will have an infinite drive to be the best, healthiest and happiest you can possible be. that will be what drives you to get out of bed every day, go to the gym, go on that walk, and nourish your body. that is what will truly change you and level you up. not the temporary explosion of self hate that forces you to move your body or put down the fork. im not one for cancel culture, but i am 1000% wanting to cancel the toxic motivation train.

all of the other realizations fell into place once i practiced self love 🥰

... Read moreIt's so easy to get caught up in the cycle of 'toxic weight loss motivation' and 'self-hate' that the fitness industry often promotes. I've been there, feeling like I had to punish myself with grueling workouts or extreme diets just to see results. But let me tell you, that path only leads to burnout and a miserable relationship with your body. What does toxic motivation even look like? For me, it was dreading every workout, seeing food as the enemy, and constantly comparing my body to others I saw online. I'd push myself to exhaustion with intense HIIT sessions, thinking that if I wasn't utterly depleted, I wasn't working hard enough for 'weight loss.' It was all about external validation and numbers on a scale, not about genuine health or feeling good in my own skin. The ads often portray an ideal that's unattainable and frankly, unhealthy, making you feel inadequate unless you're constantly striving for more, often at the expense of your mental well-being. One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was realizing that true, sustainable progress doesn't come from a place of negativity. It comes from respect and care for your body. Instead of forcing myself into activities I hated, I started exploring what truly made me feel good. That's when I discovered the amazing benefits of 'walking, pilates, and yoga.' These gentler forms of movement were so much more effective for me, not just for 'weight loss' but for building strength and flexibility without the constant dread. I even incorporated 'light resistance training' to sculpt my body, focusing on how strong I felt, not just how I looked. It’s also about finding balance in all areas. Just like the importance of 'moderation in drinking for fitness progress,' I applied that same principle to my eating habits. Instead of restrictive diets, I learned to nourish my body with wholesome foods, allowing for treats in moderation without guilt. This shift wasn't just about what I *did*, but why I did it. Moving from 'I have to' to 'I want to because I deserve to feel good.' If you're stuck in that toxic cycle, start by checking in with yourself. Are your workouts fueled by joy or guilt? Do you dread your health routine? If it's the latter, it might be time for a change. Find activities you genuinely enjoy. Focus on celebrating your body's capabilities, not just its appearance. Remember, your fitness journey should enhance your life, not diminish it. Embrace self-love, and watch how it transforms your entire approach to health and wellness. It’s a game-changer, I promise!
