Fitness propaganda I’m not falling for:

1. “Carbs make you fat”

No, eating too much of anything; carbs, fat, even protein can lead to weight gain. It’s not about one evil food group, it’s about your overall intake and balance. Carbs fuel my workouts, support my recovery, and help keep my hormones (and sanity) in check. Cutting them used to leave me drained and irritable.

2. “You need to lift heavy to make progress”

Progress comes from consistency, not ego-lifting. I’ve built muscle and gotten leaner by training SMART not by maxing out every session. I focus on good form, controlled reps, and actually feeling the muscle I’m trying to work. Heavy has its place, but it’s not the only path forward.

There’s so much noise in the fitness space, but the more I learn about my body, the less I rely on “rules” that just don’t serve me.
