I Lost 50+ lbs with PCOS & Diabetes—Here’s What Actually Worked✨
If you’re struggling with PCOS, insulin resistance, or diabetes, I know how overwhelming weight loss can feel.
For years I thought I just wasn’t trying hard enough.
I spent way too much time doing endless cardio, eating too little, and wondering why I was exhausted all the time.
Today, I’ve lost 50+ pounds and, even more importantly, I’ve maintained it for over a year while continuing to improve my body composition.
Here are the biggest changes that made the difference for me:
✨ 1. I stopped trying to burn calories and started building muscle.
Strength training completely changed my body. More muscle has helped improve my metabolism, strength, confidence, and the shape of my physique.
🥩 2. Protein became my priority.
I aim for 100–120g of protein every day. It keeps me full, helps preserve muscle while losing fat, and gives me much more stable energy throughout the day.
🚶🏾♀️ 3. I walk… a lot.
Instead of killing myself with HIIT workouts, I focus on getting 10,000+ steps every day. It’s easier to recover from, supports fat loss, and honestly helps my stress levels more than I expected.
💧 4. Hydration matters more than I realized.
I try to drink 80+ oz of water every day and stay on top of my electrolytes. It helps with energy, workouts, recovery, and even reduces the “blah” feeling that comes with dehydration.
💪🏾 5. I started taking creatine.
One of the best additions to my routine. It’s helped improve my strength, workout performance, and recovery, making it easier to stay consistent.
😴 6. I finally respected recovery.
This one took me the longest to learn. Sleep isn’t being lazy—it’s when your body recovers. Prioritizing 7–8 hours of sleep has made a huge difference in my energy, nervous system, cravings, and consistency.
The biggest lesson?
I didn’t need to work harder.
I needed to work smarter and build habits I could actually maintain.
This isn’t a quick fix—it’s a lifestyle. And honestly, I feel healthier now than I have in years.
If you’re on your own PCOS or weight-loss journey, know that progress is possible. It doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be consistent. 💜
