Read more私も「ネギは水につけると伸びる」って聞いて、買った小ねぎの根元をガラス容器に入れて育てています。結論、ちゃんとやると本当に伸びます。ただ、伸びやすい環境=蒸れやすい環境でもあるので、ちょっとしたことで傷みやすいのを実感しました。 まずやってよかったのは、束ねている輪ゴムやテープは早めに外すこと。束ねたままだと根元に空気が当たりにくくなって、水が溜まった部分が蒸れてヌルヌルしやすいです。私も「バラバラにならないように」と思ってそのままにしがちですが、外した方が葉が広がって光も当たりやすく、結果的に元気に伸びました(「輪ゴム外したら伸びるの早い」ってほんとでした)。 水につける量は“根だけ”が基本。白い部分全部を沈めると腐りやすいので、根元が少し浸かる程度(数mm〜1cmくらい)にして、葉の付け根が水に当たり続けないようにしています。水が多いほど育つと思いがちですが、私は少なめの方がにおいも出にくくて管理が楽でした。 水替えはできれば毎日、忙しい時でも最低2日に1回。容器の内側がぬめっとしてきたら、スポンジで軽く洗ってから新しい水に。夏場や暖かい部屋は傷むスピードが上がるので、直射日光は避けつつ明るい場所に置くのがちょうどよかったです。 もし根元がドロドロ・ぬめり・異臭が出たら、思い切ってリセットがおすすめ。私は傷んだ外皮をそっとはがして、茶色くなった根や柔らかい部分を少し切り落としてから、水を少なめにして再スタートしたら持ち直しました。 収穫のタイミングは、葉が伸びてきたら上だけをハサミでカット。根元を残しておくとまた伸びます。ただし、何回も繰り返すと細くなってくるので、2〜3回収穫できたら「薬味用に最後まで使い切る」くらいの気持ちでやるとストレスが少ないです。 ネギの水耕栽培は手軽だけど、ポイントは「蒸れ対策」。輪ゴムを外して風通しを作る、水は根だけ、こまめな水替え——これだけで伸び方がかなり変わりました。
