I was right to be skeptical… 🤢🥤

The thought of "canned protein" has always grossed me out for some reason, so I’ve been super nervous to try this trend. Honestly? I was right to be worried for some of these! 👎🏻

🥇 Protein Pop (Cherry Lime): This actually surprised me! It was the only one that didn't make me regret my life choices. 🍒 A bit of that protein texture, but the flavor is good. (90 cals | 22g protein)

🥈 Barebells (Wild Strawberry Soda): I love that it’s caffeinated, but it tasted like fizzy strawberry milk. It also gave me that weird dry-mouth feeling. (50 cals | 10g protein)

🥉 Barebells (Berry Milk Drink): 0/10. It grossed me out so bad. Tasted way too artificial and definitely not worth it. 🤮 (120 cals | 24g protein)

Safe to say I won't be reaching for that milk drink ever again. 🙅🏻‍♀️ Have you guys tried these? Does the idea of canned protein weird you out too? 👇🏻

It’s low in calories (90 cals) and packs a solid 22g of protein, making it an effective post-workout option. However, the Barebells Wild Strawberry Soda, while appealing due to its caffeine content, felt like drinking fizzy strawberry milk. It had a unique, sweet-berry note but also gave me a dry-mouth sensation, which can be unpleasant if you’re sensitive to texture or mouthfeel in drinks. This drink is lighter on protein (10g) and calories (50 cals), so it might suit those looking for a lower protein snack with a caffeine boost. The Barebells Berry Milk Drink was my least favorite—its artificial flavor and high protein content (24g) didn’t mix well for me, resulting in a taste I found quite off-putting. It’s great for protein intake but not something I'd include regularly in my diet due to the synthetic flavor profile. One takeaway from trying these is to pay close attention to ingredient labels, particularly the types of sweeteners and flavor enhancers used, as they can impact taste and aftereffects like dry mouth. Also, carbonation level and caffeine can add to the sensory experience but may not appeal to everyone. For anyone considering canned protein drinks, I recommend starting with small samples or single servings to find what matches your taste and texture preferences. Be mindful that these drinks are often designed as food supplements, so they’re not a complete meal replacement but can be handy for on-the-go nutrition. In my experience, protein texture in drinks is something you get used to over time, but the flavor balance is crucial—natural and subtle tastes tend to work better for me than overly artificial or sugary ones.
