How to stop your sugar cravings

Lately I have found it pretty hard to stop eating sweets. I crave so many things like ice cream, chocolate, and pastries. Even though I do not see anything harmful with treating myself to a desert here and there I do think it’s important to keep count of how much sugar I am taking in. Here our some ways I like to decrease my sugar cravings.

1. I like to start my day with a high fiber protein breakfast. This helps me not have a big spike of sugar in the morning and therefore don’t continue to crave it throughout the day. Also if I have coffee I always have it after eating breakfast and I do not sweeten my lattes.

2. I make sure to stay hydrated to always wash off any sugar I have had throughout the day. I also do not drink sugary drinks. If I will be having sugar it will not be liquid.

3. Replace any sugary/ process snack you got for more healthier ones. I like to have fruits like apples with a bit of almond butter or dates.

Engaging in mindful eating practices can also go a long way in recognizing true hunger vs. cravings driven by sugar. By understanding your body's signals and making healthier choices, you can gradually reduce your overall sugar intake, leading to improved health and wellness.
