Stage 4 Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. This leads to inflammation and scar tissue forming.Endometriosis is a complex disease that affects many women globally

Symptoms vary with each person and healthcare workers may not easily diagnose it. Stage 4 is the most severe and widespread stage.

Many of the issues I have with my organs are from the lesions or implants from endometriosis which can grow anywhere in the body. This has caused me to be in and out of the hospital.

The different medications I have are mostly for pain, to reduce inflammation and intestinal issues.

When you workout your muscle releases lactic acid which can cause inflammation. I’m still going to workout because of all the positive benefits but less complex movements

Should I do a story time for that last part 🤱🏾

... Read moreLiving with Stage 4 Endometriosis is incredibly complex, as the disease can manifest in myriad ways, affecting not just the reproductive organs but often spreading to other areas of the body. My journey has shown me that while the core definition remains the same – tissue similar to the uterine lining growing outside the uterus – the impact on daily life and the specific symptoms can vary drastically from person to person. Many people focus on pelvic pain, but for those of us with Stage 4 Endometriosis, the symptoms extend far beyond. Beyond the constant inflammation and intestinal issues I mentioned, some of the most debilitating symptoms I've faced include severe, chronic pain that isn't always tied to my menstrual cycle. This can be deep pelvic pain, intense back pain, and even nerve pain radiating down my legs. Painful intercourse (dyspareunia), painful bowel movements (dyschezia), and painful urination (dysuria) are also common and can significantly impact quality of life. I’ve also experienced extreme fatigue, a crushing exhaustion that no amount of sleep seems to fix, making even simple tasks feel monumental. And yes, to address one of the common queries, endometriosis can absolutely cause symptoms like nausea and vomiting, especially when adhesions or lesions affect the bowel or diaphragm. These gastrointestinal issues can mimic IBS, making diagnosis even harder. When it comes to managing Stage 4 Endometriosis, it's a marathon, not a sprint. While medication helps with pain and inflammation, I've found a holistic approach is essential. Diet plays a huge role; adopting an anti-inflammatory diet has helped reduce some of my gut symptoms. Heat therapy, gentle stretching, and pelvic floor physical therapy have also been beneficial for managing muscle tension and pain. For severe cases like Stage 4, surgical excision by a specialist is often considered the gold standard to remove as much of the diseased tissue as possible, offering significant relief for some time. Hormonal therapies, like birth control or GnRH agonists, are also part of the toolkit, aiming to suppress the growth of endometriosis and prevent recurrence. It's about finding the right combination that works for your body and your specific disease presentation. Many wonder about the long-term outlook or “life expectancy” with Stage 4 Endometriosis. It's not a terminal illness in the traditional sense, but it significantly impacts quality of life. The focus shifts to managing symptoms, preserving organ function, and preventing further complications. This often means advocating fiercely for yourself with healthcare providers, building a strong support system, and prioritizing mental health. Therapy and support groups have been invaluable for me in navigating the emotional toll of chronic illness. Learning to listen to my body, adjusting my activity levels (like opting for less complex movements during workouts), and celebrating small victories are all part of living as fully as possible with Stage 4 Endometriosis. It's about proactive management and finding joy amidst the challenges.

So sorry you’re struggling with the awfulness of endo! I struggled immensely from the age of 15 to early 30’s! After we adopted our son, I felt a peace about having my hysterectomy. But I was in rough shape with no other options. Prayers for you on your journey ❤️
