💛 ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS DAY

If you live with endometriosis, I wanted to make sure that I told you today... you are not dramatic. You are not weak. And you are definitely not alone.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women - But somehow…

It often takes 7–10 years to get diagnosed 😭

That’s not because it’s rare. It’s because it’s misunderstood.

WHAT IS ENDOMETRIOSIS?

Endometriosis happens when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it. This can cause:

• Severe pelvic pain

• Painful periods

• Pain with intimacy

• Digestive issues

• Fatigue

• Fertility struggles

And the pain isn’t “just cramps” for many, it can be life-altering. I've heard so many stories from some of you over the years, that I know the impact it can have.

WHAT CAN HELP? Every body is different, but many find relief through a combination of:

💛 An endometriosis-informed OB-GYN

💛 Pelvic floor physical therapy

💛 Anti-inflammatory nutrition strategies

💛 Gentle movement (walking, stretching)

💛 Heat therapy

💛 Stress reduction support

💛 Hormonal management (when appropriate)

💛 Excision surgery with a specialist

For intimacy discomfort specifically, this is where you have me as a resource. USE ME 🙋‍♀️

• Prioritizing foreplay

• Vasodilators like enhancement creams (blood flow matters)

• Using thick or enhanced lubricants

• Choosing positions that reduce deep pressure

• Position pillows to control depth and angle

• Open communication with a partner

Painful intimacy is common with endometriosis — but it does not mean you are broken, or that is has to hurt. Let’s Normalize my loves...

IF YOU’VE EVER BEEN TOLD:

“It’s just part of being a woman.”

“Everyone has cramps.”

“Have you tried ibuprofen?”

➡️ You deserve better care.

➡️ You deserve providers who listen.

➡️ You deserve partners who understand.

➡️ You deserve relief.

You Are Not Alone 💛

Endometriosis can feel isolating, especially when the pain is invisible. But there are millions of women navigating this too.

- There are support groups.

- There are specialists.

- There are answers.

- And there is a community (us) that believes you, cares about you, and sees you.

If you or someone you love struggles with endometriosis, feel feel to share your story below so we can share some love today. 💛

... Read moreLiving with endometriosis can be an overwhelming journey, but sharing personal experiences and tips for managing symptoms can create a supportive community for those affected. From my experience, one important step is to actively seek physicians who specialize in endometriosis and are willing to take your symptoms seriously; having an endometriosis-informed OB-GYN can make a significant difference in early diagnosis and tailored treatment. Incorporating pelvic floor physical therapy into your routine can also provide relief from the chronic pelvic pain and muscle tightness that often accompany endometriosis. Many patients find that nutrition plays a pivotal role as well—focusing on anti-inflammatory foods such as leafy greens, omega-3 rich fish, and avoiding processed sugars and trans fats helps reduce flare-ups. Regular gentle movement, like walking or stretching, not only improves circulation but also alleviates pain and fatigue. Heat therapy, such as warm baths or heating pads, can soothe muscle cramps and discomfort profoundly. I’ve also found that stress reduction techniques, including mindfulness meditation and yoga, contribute significantly to managing painful symptoms. For intimacy concerns, communicating openly with your partner about pain and comfort levels is key. Using vasodilators like enhancement creams and choosing lubricants designed for sensitivity can improve blood flow and ease discomfort. Position pillows for controlling depth and angle during intimacy can greatly reduce pain, making the experience more comfortable. Lastly, connecting with support groups and communities online or locally who truly understand endometriosis can be invaluable for emotional support and sharing coping strategies. Knowing that you are not alone and that many others face similar challenges fosters resilience and hope. By integrating these strategies and advocating for comprehensive care, women living with endometriosis can improve their quality of life and regain control over their health.
