... Read moreLiving and working as a domestic helper in Singapore has opened my eyes to the fascinating ways food reflects cultural and religious identities. I've come to understand that meal preparation is not just about feeding the body but deeply tied to beliefs and traditions. For example, many Muslim households follow halal dietary laws, requiring meat to be slaughtered and prepared according to specific rites while avoiding pork and alcohol. Respecting these rules means careful ingredient selection and meal planning. In Hindu families, vegetarianism is common due to religious principles emphasizing non-violence, but some may consume dairy products and foods like lentils. Some avoid onions and garlic during fasting periods, so adapting recipes is essential. Buddhist dietary practices vary, with some adhering strictly to vegetarianism or veganism to honor compassion towards all living beings. This has encouraged me to include more plant-based dishes that are flavorful and fulfilling. Meanwhile, Christian households in Singapore might not have strict food restrictions but may observe fasting or abstinence during Lent. It’s respectful to be aware of these occasions and provide suitable meal options. Through these experiences, I've learned that understanding and respecting dietary practices cultivate trust and harmony in the home. It’s also an opportunity to explore new flavors and cooking methods—all while maintaining balanced nutrition. I hope this glimpse into my meal routine helps others appreciate the beautiful culinary diversity in Singapore’s domestic helper community.

Platforms to get a transfer helper
I know of people who swear by Fresh helpers, but I personally still prefer transfer helpers who have worked in the City before. I need someone who is familiar with City hygiene standards and operates modern appliances. I also have plans to go back to work full time in the future, and this person ne

Hey SGFC Fam! Happy Monday everyone - congrats, you survived Monday! 🎉 Earlier today, I was fetching Jiejie and bumped into a friend who was picking up her kids herself instead of her helper. I asked her about it, and she said her helper had gone home, and her husband (my junior) decided not
