🛒 Ingredients:
6 slices of Hawaiian sliced bread (King’s Hawaiian or similar)
2 large eggs
½ cup milk (whole or your fave)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon sugar
Butter (for greasing your skillet or grill)
Optional Toppings:
Fresh strawberries & blueberries
Powdered sugar
Maple syrup
Whipped cream
Or go extra and stuff it with cream cheese & fruit!
---
👩🏽🍳 Instructions:
1. Lightly Toast the Bread First (Trust Us):
Before you dip anything — pop those Hawaiian slices in a toaster or on a dry skillet for about 30–45 seconds per side. Just enough to firm them up, not brown them. This keeps your French toast from going mushy when dipped.
2. Mix the Custard:
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cinnamon sugar until smooth and blended.
3. Dip & Soak:
Dip each toasted bread slice into the mixture, letting it soak for 5–7 seconds per side — just enough to absorb that flavor but not fall apart.
4. Heat Your Cooking Surface:
Preheat an electric griddle or nonstick skillet over medium heat. Drop in a pat of butter and let it melt until bubbly.
5. Cook to Golden Perfection:
Place dipped bread slices onto the hot surface. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.
6. Serve with Toppings:
Stack 'em high and top with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a generous drizzle of maple syrup.
Optional Stuffed French Toast Idea:
Spread a layer of sweetened cream cheese or whipped ricotta between two slices before dipping for a next-level brunch treat.
