Turn paper into a fun chip bag! 🎨
Kids draw, cut, fold, and decorate—creativity made simple with our markers and crayons.
Hey crafting buddies! I recently discovered the coolest DIY project to do with kids, and I just had to share it with you all: making paper chip bags! My little ones absolutely adore this, and it’s surprisingly simple. Forget store-bought toys for a bit; this craft sparks so much imagination and keeps them busy for ages. Want to give it a try? Here's how we make our own 'Delicious Potato Chips' bags from scratch! What You'll Need: Plain paper (printer paper, construction paper, or even lightweight cardstock works great!) Markers, crayons, colored pencils (totally up to your preference!) Scissors (kid-safe ones, of course!) Glue stick or tape Ruler (optional, but helpful for neat folds) Optional: A crinkly material like plastic wrap or cotton balls if you want to make them squishy. Let's Get Crafting! Design Your Bag (The Fun Part!): First, grab a piece of paper. This is where your creativity shines! We usually fold our paper in half lengthwise to get the basic chip bag shape. Then, we start drawing. Think about your favorite potato chip flavors – salt & vinegar, BBQ, sour cream & onion! My kids love drawing a big, bold "Delicious Potato Chips" logo right in the middle, along with some wavy lines to make it look like a real bag. Don't forget to draw some yummy-looking chips peeking out or as part of the design. You can even add a faux nutrition label or a silly barcode on the back! Cut and Shape: Once your design is complete, carefully cut around the edges, leaving about half an inch border on three sides (top, bottom, and one side). This border will be for gluing. Fold It Up: Now, fold the paper over to create the bag shape. Use your glue stick or tape to seal the side and bottom edges. Make sure to press firmly so your "chips" don't fall out! You should now have an open pouch. Crinkle & Seal (Optional Squishy Fun!): If you want to make a 'printable paper squishy template chips' style bag, this is the step! Crumple up some plastic wrap or stuff a few cotton balls inside before sealing the top. This gives it a fun, squishy texture that kids love to play with. Then, fold the top edge down a couple of times and glue it shut. You can even use pinking shears on the top and bottom edges for that classic chip bag crimp! Decorate & Play: And just like that, you've got your very own handmade paper chip bag! My kids love making a whole collection of these, imagining different flavors and even creating 'mini chip bags' for their dolls or action figures. It’s a fantastic art project that combines drawing, cutting, and folding skills. Beyond Just Chips: This technique isn't just for potato chips! We've also used it to make paper blind bags with little surprise drawings inside, or even tiny shopping bags for pretend play. The possibilities are endless, and it’s all about encouraging that creative spark in your little artists. Give it a try this weekend – I promise it's a craft that's easy, engaging, and brings so much joy! Happy crafting!
