20 lbs DOWN since June 10…

I started this journey at 208 lbs on June 10, and as of July 29, my lowest recorded weight is 188.6 lbs.

That’s 19.4 lbs gone… even with:

🍽️ Refeed days

🌀 Hormonal chaos

🛑 Stalls and slow days

😩 IBS flares

🧠 Mental battles

🧸 Toddler chaos

At first, I went hard. Super aggressive deficits, 20k step days, barely eating, but honestly? That pace was burning me out. I realized if I wanted to stick with this, I had to rethink my entire approach.

So I did.

Now I’m following a slower, smarter plan:

✔️ 2.5 lbs/week goal

✔️ 1100–1300 cals/day

✔️ Intermittent fasting (1PM start)

✔️ 10k steps/day (15 k a couple of times a week)

✔️ One refeed every 2 weeks

✔️ Strength training added in phases

💬 I’ve been tracking everything, scale dips and all.

My next big milestone? Getting into the 170s. And doing it without sacrificing my sanity.

Because this isn’t just about weight. It’s about CONSISTENCY. Peace. Confidence. Energy. Health. Wholeness. Grace.

🎯 Goal: 150 lbs by New Year’s Eve- which gives me lots of grace.

🌸 Long-term: 120–130 lbs range

💪 And doing it without rushing or punishing myself.

If you’re in the thick of it right now… keep going.

You’re not failing..you’re learning.

You’re not slow..you’re sustainable.

You’re not alone..you’ve got this. 💛

... Read moreMy journey has really highlighted the importance of tuning into my own body rather than just relying on generic advice. When I first started researching, I stumbled upon a lot of 'age-wise weight charts' and 'ideal weight for adults' guides. While they can be a helpful starting point to understand general healthy ranges, I quickly learned they don't tell the whole story of your unique body. It's so easy to get caught up comparing yourself to charts, but sustainable weight loss is far more personal and nuanced. These charts can give you a rough idea, but factors like muscle mass, body composition, and individual metabolism are often not fully captured. For adults, focusing on overall health markers beyond just weight, like energy levels, sleep quality, and strength, can be far more empowering. One thing I found incredibly motivating was maintaining a 'weekly weight chart' – much like the detailed tracking table I mentioned in my post. Seeing those numbers shift, even slightly, on a weekly basis really kept me accountable. I didn't just track my actual weight; I also noted my weekly goals and actual losses. This allowed me to see patterns, understand what was working, and adjust my approach when things stalled. For instance, I learned that a slight gain one week often correlated with a refeed day or hormonal fluctuations, not a failure on my part. This kind of detailed tracking, seeing the 'weekly dates' and 'actual weights' alongside my 'goal weights,' was crucial for my mental game. It helped me celebrate small victories and truly understand the bigger picture of my progress. It’s not about perfection, but about consistent effort and learning from the data you collect. For anyone, especially if you're a petite or 'short woman' like me, weight loss can feel a bit different and often more challenging. Our bodies often have lower basal metabolic rates, meaning our caloric needs are naturally lower than someone taller. This can make creating a significant calorie deficit without feeling deprived a real struggle. I realized I couldn't just follow a generic 1500-calorie plan; I had to really dial in my intake to the 1100-1300 cal/day range I'm on now, which is personalized for my body and activity level. It’s about finding that sweet spot where you're losing weight efficiently but still feeling energized and satisfied, avoiding that constant feeling of hunger that leads to burnout. Incorporating strength training, even in phases, has been a game-changer too, helping to preserve muscle mass which is so important for metabolism, especially when you have less to begin with. Building muscle helps your body burn more calories even at rest, a huge advantage for smaller frames. Don't let those charts or general guidelines define your journey. Use them as a starting point, but then personalize everything to fit *you*. My advice? Start tracking your progress consistently, understand your body's specific needs, and remember that sustainability beats speed every single time. It’s not just about the number on the scale, but about building habits that serve your long-term health, confidence, and happiness. You truly have got this – keep learning, keep adapting, and keep going!
