Ah, April Fool's Day. Some gooders over the years. I remember when Country 106.7 announced Oktoberfest was canceled. 😄 I told J it's too bad the Whig didn't announce a toll for the 3 Crossing. Bwahaha
Regardless, what 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 a joke is tonight's big concert in Oshawa! J, Ken, Nathan & I are off to see the Goo Goo Dolls so I've got my big blonde bixie mess and my yellow cross thatch pants to match to savor all that 90s goodness.
I think my Mom can attest that she knows "A Boy Named Goo" as well as I do, given I was a 14 year old blasting that record at volume 12 every single day. "Long Way Down" from the 𝘛𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 soundtrack. "Name" on repeat as my little emo heart bawled and wrote "letters that (I) never meant to send." The ones that get "lost and thrown away." 😄 And "Slide," a song I still send to J. ("Do you wanna get married?! Run away!") Or the effervescent "Black Balloon." And of course, "Iris." My god. I 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 watched 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 on one of my recent flights. It's all but dominated the "Dad, what were you like in the 90s?" trend. And. Meg Ryan! That hair! Nic Cage! The logging truck! The angels in trench coats walking the beach! AND. It's resurgence has trickled over to my weddings. Brides using it for their aisle song. It becoming that banger that lights the dancefloor at midnight for fist pumps and singalongs.
Suffice to say, I'm a pretty hard-core Goo fan. 🤘
So, that said. Let's leave you with a "Name" lyric I've used in signatures, in lipstick 💄 notes on the mirror:
