A year ago, I was 355 lbs

My weight loss journey didn’t begin with eating salads and dying on a treadmill. It started with healing my trauma and getting help for my mental health. Without any of that, I wouldn’t have been able to do this journey. I am also so thankful for the medical aid I have in helping me with my PCOS, insulin resistance, and ARFID. I still have a bout 89lbs to go.

A key factor in successful weight loss is addressing underlying issues, such as trauma and mental health struggles, which can impact eating habits and physical activity. Finding professional help through therapy not only aids in emotional healing but also improves resilience against future challenges. As individuals work towards their goals, it’s crucial to understand that every journey is unique. In my case, I tackled my struggles with PCOS and insulin resistance through medical interventions. Incorporating GLP-1 medications offered me significant support, making it easier to manage cravings and stabilize my weight. Moreover, community connections, such as joining discussion boards or support groups, foster accountability and encouragement. Sharing experiences with like-minded individuals helps create a sense of belonging that can bolster motivation. Lastly, nutrition plays a vital role in any weight loss plan. Instead of solely focusing on salads and exercise, it’s essential to embrace a balanced diet that includes varied food choices, ensuring the body receives the necessary nutrients while enjoying the process. Remember, every step you take toward healing is significant, and finding joy in the journey is part of achieving lasting change.
